Frequently Asked Questions

Please check here before contacting us.

Can erased files be recovered?

No, they cannot be recovered. The App overwrites files three times with different patterns following the DoD 5220.22-M standard before deletion. This process makes data recovery technically extremely difficult. Please make sure to verify the target file before performing an erasure.

What is DoD 5220.22-M?

DoD 5220.22-M is a data sanitization standard established by the U.S. Department of Defense. The standard recommends at least three overwrite passes using different patterns (zeros, ones, and random data) to securely erase data. It is a highly trusted method used by government agencies and military organizations.

What types of files can be erased?

The App can securely erase any file type accessible from your device. This includes documents, images, videos, audio files, and more. However, system files and files belonging to the App itself cannot be erased.

How long does the erasure process take?

The erasure time depends on the file size. Since the 3-pass overwrite process is performed, it takes longer than standard file deletion. You can monitor the real-time progress during the process.

What happens if the app crashes during erasure?

If the app crashes before the erasure process is complete, the file may still exist, although some data may have already been overwritten. For safety, we recommend running the erasure process again.

Where is the erasure history stored?

The erasure history is stored only on your device. It is never transmitted to external servers. If you uninstall the app, the history data will be deleted as well.

What devices and OS versions are supported?

The iOS version supports iPhone and iPad running iOS 16.0 or later. The Android version supports devices running Android 8.0 (API level 26) or later.

Is the app free to use?

Yes, the App is free to download and use. All core secure file erasure features are available at no cost.
